The Incident Manager in Action - Suspicious Visitors

November 14, 2022

Let's dive a little deeper

Our recently born software feature The Incident Manager Web Application provides a quicker and more efficient way to handle incidents in buildings. All safety and security risks are managed by different software tools. A CCTV system is managed by its producers’ software. The same goes for fire and smoke detectors, locks, safes, HVAC and so on. When you already are a Sky-Walker 3 user or you are familiar with our software, you know that this immense load of work is dealt with by integrating all subsystems into one open and easy to handle integration software.

Increased Situational Awareness thanks to Sky-Walker features

The Incident Manager Web Application: What if there is a suspicious visitor?

If some visitor is showing strange behaviour in an area where there are many visitors nearby, immediately striking is not always such a good idea. By eliminating the threat, you do not necessarily eliminate the potential danger. If the suspect is armed, it could cause harm to passers-by. You want to clear the path to leave the building and close all other doors, so the suspect cannot go deeper into the building where he could harm more people.

First thing, you want to sharpen the situational awareness of the security staff. In the ideal scenario:

  • The control room operators will be shown footages of the suspect so he can be tracked anywhere in the building.
  • An overview of the different evacuation routes comes in handy to decide which route is preferred to lead everyone away from the threat.
  • A map of the building including all doors visualises on the interface, so the control room can decide which doors should lock and which should open.
  • When in connection with the security workers in the field, the perfect flow can be directed so everyone is brought to safety in no time.
  • Emergency Services can be called in with just one click.

Customised to meet your needs

This automated workflow is just an example of the many possibilities within The Incident Manager feature. Because every business’ safety and security needs differ from one another, our product is always customised. Your result is a customised and automated workflow built around your optimised safety structure. When the most important parts of the incident management are done (e.g. evacuation route, calling Emergency Services, managing security members, activation of fire sprinklers, …) or immediately at the beginning in case the incident was no safety threat, more information can be provided by the control room members.

In this case, the questions that will be build into the workflow can be:

  • The colour of the cloths and other characteristics.
  • The length and posture of the suspect.
  • The direction he came from, the direction he is walking to or his current location.
  • What makes him suspicious?
  • Is he armed?
  • Is he posing a threat to nearby visitors?

Basically, every possible question can be asked. The form only provides the questions that are built into the workflow. Which questions are necessary in each different event depends on many things, your choice in the first place.
