The Incident Manager in Action: Fire Detection

November 8, 2022

Only seven days left

In our previous blog article, we launched communication on the Incident Manager Web Application. As a feature of our highly recommended Sky-Walker 3, it will change the world of control room software as you know it. Designed to provide the highest level of comfort, the Incident Manager will convert a naturally chaotic situation into an easy to handle and efficient workflow. From the 15th until the 17th of november, we will officially launch this Sky-Walker 3 feature on the Expoprotection 2022 exhibition in Paris, France. If you cannot be there, this is the place to be when you are searching for updates!

Firstly, Sky-Walker 3

Let’s say you own multiple buildings on various locations in which there are many fire detectors. A fire occurs, which is a chaotic incident for every control room operator end security worker. An alarm goes off so that the control room is aware that there has been an incident. The most likely workflow would be to watch the cameras first estimate the scope of the incident; some doors will have to be closed or opened; an evacuation procedure should be followed; and, depending on the hour of the day the amount of visitors should vary, which affects the evacuation an thus should me managed also. The emergency services should be called in and safety workers as well as security members will be sent to the incident location.

The Incident Manager Web Application: What if a fire occurs?

There is a lot of monitoring to do and there are many different software tools, each with its own interface and workflow. In Sky-Walker 3, that problem has been solved by integrating each subsystem in an open integration software. Now the Incident Manager Web App has come to live, we lift the safety level even higher. This feature provides a custom workflow for every incident you can think of. Now, if a fire is detected and an alarm goes off there will be a custom automated workflow that immediately sharpens the situational awareness of the control room operators. One high-level interface will provide built-in steps to guide the workers through the procedure.

An alarm will appear on the map while a survey pops up. Some simple questions are asked, the control room operator will be able to answer these questions quickly. The monitors show the camera footage of the incident location to make sure there really is a fire and to decide whether the fire is severe enough to start the evacuation procedure. The situational awareness of the control room operators is brought to the highest level. Depending on the automated workflow, it is possible to provide options to immediately call the emergency services, the evacuation route will be visible and can even be launched automatically. Doors can be closed to secure a safe path through the building so visitors will not walk back to the fire accidentally.

Customised to meet your needs

A multitude of different actions can be integrated in the custom made workflow. As said before, this level of comfort makes safety workers less preoccupied with workflows and different subsystems and interfaces. That’s how providing comfort with an easy to manage interface can contribute hugely to the safety and security of one or multiple buildings.
